At Design Within Reach, a Cast of New Collaborators Calls for Celebration

Last month, on a brisk autumn evening, Design Within Reach invited New York’s design set to its SoHo showroom to celebrate the season—and a number of exclusive collaborations that it ushered in. Local AD PRO Directory members were among the attendees to get a first look at the fall collections, which includes commissioned works by photographer Adrian Gaut, artist Mary Little, designer Camilla Stærk, and more.

Guests entered from Greene Street to find a newly restyled showroom, arranged with well-layered living vignettes featuring the season’s latest furniture, lighting, rugs, pottery, and more. Below a trio of Stærk’s leather-wrapped pendants, culinary creative studio Spilt Milk Collective crafted a bountiful spread for the evening. Verdant grape bunches, zucchini slices, halved limes, and olives spilled from a centerpiece of piled lettuce heads across the tabletop. It was an invigorating greenscape, a fresh contrast to the fall collection’s rich, earthen palette.

Among the debuts on display were Gaut’s seven exclusive prints capturing Mexico City’s architectural moments in sculptural magnifications. “I’m very proud of the work, and it was very meaningful to share that with a group of people who may not know so much about the more fine art oriented slant to my [portfolio],” Gaut tells AD PRO. The limited-edition set marks the debut of Design Within Reach’s foray into commissioned artworks—a taste of what’s to come from the brand in 2025.

The pieces shared the showroom walls with Little’s commissions, six unbleached cotton canvas works inspired by the artist’s Irish countryside upbringing. These meticulously sliced and stitched dimensional works are defined by a melody of light, shadow, and gravity. Stærk’s darkly romantic lighting and rugs, which tip-toe Hollywood glam and Danish minimalism, were also on view. Gaut, Little, and Stærk were in attendance to share the stories behind their exclusives with guests, including interior designers Clive Lonstein and Nicole Fisher, landscape designer Jonathan Fargion, and stylist Colin King. Other notable creatives included Helena Christensen, Hlynur Atlason, Memsor Kamarake, Alice Carey, Estelle Bailey-Babenzien, Henry Julier, and Arthur Vallin.
