Rachel McAdams is cutting residential ties with Hollywood in favor of Southern living. The award-winning actor has put her longtime Los Angeles home on the market for $4 million, per Realtor. McAdams, known for her roles in The Notebook and Mean Girls, purchased the midcentury modern LA dwelling with her husband, screenwriter Jamie Linden, in August 2011 for $1.67 million.
The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bathroom abode is tucked away in LA’s Los Feliz neighborhood. It is fully gated and outfitted with several security cameras to ensure complete privacy. The residence embraces the classic LA indoor-outdoor lifestyle, with a living area that opens up to the yard and an expansive dining room that leads out to the outdoor deck. The grounds out back are geared toward entertaining and relaxation, with a lounge area overlooking a pool and spa outfitted with a waterfall feature. The home’s kitchen is equipped with a built-in breakfast nook and Viking appliances.

The primary suite offers large bay windows, a private bathroom, and custom closets. Downstairs, an entertainment room comes complete with a fireplace, a fully-stocked kitchenette, and a 120-inch concealed theater screen and projector to offer a true movie theater experience.
McAdams opened up to Bustle in 2023 about her life away from the Hollywood hustle. She told the outlet that she and Linden relocated to the South with their two children and dogs. Though she did not specify her new locale, she did note that her Southern residence, where she’s reportedly living full time, allows for lots of quality time with her children—some of which is spent riding around town with one of her kids strapped to the back of her bike—and a sense of freedom during her breaks from shooting projects. “[The relocation] really helped me feel empowered,” she says. “It helped me feel like I was taking back some control. And I think it sort of allowed me to come in from a different doorway.”
